You are the lead respiratory therapist at a 250 bed regional hospital. One of your responsibilities is participating on a public health committee with the county health department. You have been tasked with creating a plan to enhance the methods used to diagnose obstructive diseases in your hospital.
1. Using information from the Department of Health you reside in (Minnesota state) determine the COPD rate in your area. With that information attempt to discern how many undiagnosed COPD patients may live in your region.
2. Discuss the methods you would use to help diagnose more patients with obstructive diseases.
3. Discuss the benefits to your hospital and to your county health department of increasing the number of properly diagnosed patients.
