Your Assignment:
NOTE: M-Global is a fake company created by the authors of an old textbook I used to use.
Assume that you work at the M-Global office that monitored the construction of the Floor County, Florida General Hospital (see the M-Global project sheet attached below). Word of your good work has spread to Miami-Dade County, which is planning a similar project. M-Global has worked with Miami-Dade in the past on other projects, and you are quite familiar with the county’s administrators. The county’s manager, whom you know, has asked you, as manager of the Floor County General Hospital project, to deliver a 20-minute speech on your work at the county’s upcoming council meeting. Unfortunately, you have already agreed to be at a project site in another state on that day, and you cannot reschedule the site visit. Write an email, including the subject line, to the county manager—who is both a former and, you hope, a future client—and decline the request. Although you know he expressly wanted you to speak, offer to send a substitute from your office.
Write an email as indicated above, addressing it to Johnny Doe, Miami-Dade County Manager. (Assume that others may read the message, but only address it to him.)
Type the email in Word, as though it would appear in your email program, but don’t send it. Save the finished document as a PDF.
Make sure that it has the appropriate headers (Date, To, From, Subject).
Upload your PDF document here by 11:55 p.m. Sunday.
Your assignment will earn all 20 points if your email has 3-4 paragraphs total, with:
A proper salutation or greeting (“Hi, Johnny,”) and introduction paragraph (5 points),
Your response to his request and supporting reasons why, plus your offer of a substitute speaker, in the body of the email (10 points), and
A conclusion that ends on a positive note, with a statement of what happens next, as well as a closing and your name (5 points
