Internal Communication Case Study Analysis

For the analysis essay:
• The analysis should be four pages in
length, double-spaced, typed.
• At least four sources need to be cited with
in-text citations. Citation style is your
choice – either MLA or Chicago. (Works
Cited/Bibliography page is not included in
the required four-to-six page essay
length.) You may cite articles read in class
or research additional relevant sources.
• The essay should not be written in the first
person (“I believe,” “I think,” It is my
opinion”). You are critically analyzing the
actions the company did/did not take.
• Address the noted questions as one,
cohesive essay.

Questions for Consideration:
1. What is the specific organizational
challenge and the opportunity for
communication?
2. What are the main issues of cultural
integration as noted in the case?
3. Barriers to successful integration were
identified through the ethnographer’s
observations. What are the key
findings from EACH story?
4. In the best scenario, Internal
Communications should have been
counseling leadership PRIOR to the
merger. In this regard, what steps
should have been taken to minimize or
mitigate some of the barriers?
5. What should the new, incoming CEO
take under consideration regarding the
merger?
6. What role can internal
communications play in this merger to
bring about a successful outcome?
