Provide a written interpretation of the results which
covers the following:
A. The purpose of the chi-squared test of independence.
Please make some reference to sampling error in this description. Think about
why you can’t just look at the contingency table on its own to determine if the
two variables are independent.
B. A summary of what the contingency table communicates
about the joint distribution of these two variables (offense type and
recidivism type). What offense types were the least likely to recidivate? Which
were the most?
C. A summary of the results of the chi-square test,
including whether the null hypothesis is rejected, and what the Cramer’s V
tells you about the association between these two variables.
