 Were you shocked by the sex trafficking victims’ experiences and if so, what things
shocked you the most?
 Did you have any preconceived notions that changed? If yes, what were they and how
did they change? If not, explain more about this.
 In general, how did the reading make you feel?
 Do you have more/less understanding or empathy than you did before?
 Has this book challenged stereotypes or prejudices you have/had? Any realizations or
insights?

ideals, your philosophies, your concept of life or of the way you live?

PART 2 DISCUSSION BOARD:

After reading Girls Life Us by Rachel Lloyd and completing the Reaction Essay Book Report, think about and discuss how you would respond to the three myths listed below (in 300-400 words total).
Below are three of the most common myths regarding Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in the United States. After reading this book and other materials from this course, how will you respond to others who believe these myths and mention them to you in the future?
The first misconception is that prostitution, even when involving minors, is a victimless crime and therefore, there is no harm associated with it.

Second, there is a popular misconception that minors freely choose prostitution and they retain power and control in the situation.

Another commonly held belief is that prostitution is a glamorous and exciting life which offers wealth or employment to the prostituted child.
