I hope thatcat least a few of you smiled at those questions…I feel that I’ve made similar statements regularly since beginning the development of the CTE graduate courses…as I learn more about each of you enrolled, I see how the development of the courses needs to change or evolve. For this discussion forum, try to identify who will likely use the curriculum you are developing.
Generate a learner analysis that identifies the characteristics of the learners who will use the curriculum that you are developing. Be specific for your population. The following should be considered:
General Characteristics: Include pertinent broad variables including age, gender, ethnicity, and past experiences.
Academic Information: What is the typical academic background of the learner? What content and educational experiences can be assumed for every participant? What specialized courses or experiences would some have?
Personal and Social Characteristics: Consider maturity, mechanical dexterity, socialization, motivations, and special talents.
Non-conventional Learners: What accommodations will need to be made for learners with disabilities, aging learners, culturally diverse learners, etc.?
What assumptions are you making about all participants entering into the training/course?
