The courts have a played a substantive role in the evolution of voting rights in America. Your assignment is to thoroughly
examine and explain the role the judiciary has played in five separate Supreme Court cases involving voting rights.
The papers should be a minimum of 8 to 10 pages (approximately two pages per CASE) following generally accepted double-spaced formatting. Please follow all traditional rules for citations, using either APA or Chicago style. If you draw from outside sources, please include a bibliography.
For each case please include the following:
1) Overview of the issue that the court was considering. Brief history of this issue
2) How did the issue get before the court? Walk through if stared with a legislative action, state action, lower court rulings, appeal, etc.
3) Summarize the decision and rationale of the majority
4)Summarize the dissenting option and rationale of the minority
5) Explain (if applicable) any legislative response to this decision
6) Conclusion: Write your personal opinion on this decision and how you would have ruled if you had been on the bench and
why
