Literature Review Assignment Guidelines and Requirements
Description: For this assignment you will be asked to turn in a completed literature review. This literature review should be at least four (4) and no more than seven (7) pages.
Requirements: This assignment requires a title page and an introduction paragraph – complete with a clear purpose (i.e., what are you looking at?!?). After the introduction of the topic of interest (i.e., paragraph one) you should begin to expand upon it and present support for your topic from the articles which you have accumulated. You should briefly describe past studies in the context of your present study. How does it support your hypothesis? The descriptions or reviews of past studies should not exceed one paragraph, unless the study is of the utmost importance. You will be required to examine the findings of at least 8 sources, thus you will have 8 references. Be sure to include your reference page.
The literature review should begin fairly broad, and then progressively narrow to the main area of interest. You may want to think of an upside down pyramid in terms of the construction of your review
Below is a helpful outline for you to follow:
a. The first paragraph should clearly introduce the topic of interest and should end with a clear purpose statement.
b. Toward the end of the literature review section, you will state your original idea in paragraph form, based on the literature you’ve just reviewed This should be in the form of a conclusion paragraph which provides a smooth transition into the methods section.
c. Within this final paragraph, immediately preceding the beginning of the method section, you will state your hypothesis clearly. Tell me what you expect to find.
