Please write an essay about the following:
I’m currently a junior at south Alabama university in Mobile, Alabama, with the goal of applying to dental school. My goal is to become a dentist, return to Mobile, and become one of the first bilingual dentists in the small town of Mobile, Alabama. I will be able to provide dental care for the growing Hispanic community in my hometown. I was born in Miami FL, I am first generation American, my mother is from Nicaragua and my father is from Cuba. but at 6 years old I moved to Mobile Alabama and grew up in the west Mobile area. I went to Hutchens elementary, causey middle school, and baker high school. I went to the coastal Alabama community college before transferring to south Alabama university. Going to a community college was in my best interest due to finances. Community colleges get a bad reputation because people look down on community colleges when in all reality I was the smart one by making the decision on getting the same educational value at an institute that costs 35% percent less than a 4-year college. I want to be a role model for my community. I remember being a little girl still in elementary school and because my mother struggled with speaking English my mother out of necessity, would check me out of school early and take me with her to doctor’s appointments and dentist so I could translate for her. I use to hate my mother for this because I loved school and I never wanted to miss out on any assignments or tests. but my mother didn’t understand this, I carried a weight on my shoulders as a young girl having to take care of my mom by being the translator. It was hard but now I look back on it and it made me stronger and proud of my roots and who I am, I am Hispanic American with goals and aspirations to create generational wealth for my family for their sacrifices. I want to be a doctor in my community, the doctor Hispanics can go to and they doesn’t have to check out their children early from school to translate at their dentist appointment. I can be a doctor that speaks Spanish to her patients and that is what I inspire to become in my community. After high school at the age of 18 yrs old, I started working in a dental office as a sterilization tech, within that time I was trained to become a dental assistant on the job. I worked as a dental assistant for 4 yrs after 4 years I went to the Alabama dental hygiene program and graduated in 2017 as a registered dental hygienist. Im has been a dental hygienist now for 6 years. Since 2020 I became a full-time student and part-time contracted dental hygienist.
