Think about your everyday life.
What everyday activities rely on sound? How much do you use sound to get through your everyday life?
Now consider the life of a Deaf* person and the adaptations they must use in order to make their environment accessible to them.
Go online and find a piece of adaptive technology (NO HEARING AIDS OR COCHLEAR IMPLANTS!) Describe how the device functions – what exactly does it do for Deaf* people, and how does it go about doing it. Consider the benefits and costs (both literal and figurative) of devices.
Do you think the devices are seen as a good thing?
Do you think they benefit the community?
Do you think they may in any way harm or hurt the Deaf community?
