In this course, we will learn the four phrase of information systems analysis and design: system planning, system analysis, system design, and system implementation. Since this is an information systems analysis and design course, topics on technology will also be covered.
To put what we have learned into practice, you are to assume the role of an IT project manager, and work on a 8-week long project consisting of four assignments with a due date of every other week. The following is the first of the four assignments.
Meet with your team members and choose one corporation/company/organization that your team will work on, it could be a corporation/company/organization that you work for, you are familiar with, or read about. In this assignment, you are to prepare a preliminary report which has the following format:
Introduction
Systems request summary
Findings
Recommendations
Project roles
Time and costs estimates
Expected benefits
Appendix
The report should contain the background information of the organization, e.g., mission statement, role of IT in the organization, SWOT analysis of organizational products/services, any problems or opportunities that needs to be addressed in the organization etc. You can use pseudo name to keep the organization confidential.
The maximum length of the report is 10 pages, single spaced. Please include names of all your team on cover page. Submit one copy only for each team.
