Ministerial brief: individual writing task

Write a short piece in the style of a ‘talking-points brief’ to prepare a senior politician for potential questions from journalists. 500 words.

The scenario
You are a junior comms officer/media advisor in the federal Department of Education. One day you get sent this email:

From: Head of Comms
To: all comms officers
Subject: ministerial talking-points brief
Heads up everybody!
These two articles are doing the rounds and causing a bit of a stir:

The Minister will be opening a new building at Federation Uni in Berwick next Monday morning and journos will ask questions about this. I want a talking points brief (500 words max, dot points fine) comparing the two articles and weighing their arguments. We don’t want the Minister to be caught off-guard do we? Remember what happened last time!
I need this by midnight on Sunday 26 March.
