The purpose of this project is to analyze and assess your current habits and behaviors surrounding nutrition and exercise and create a personalized program to make the appropriate changes and/or modifications for a healthier lifestyle. The focus will be on your current nutritional habits and exercising habits. Identify what your current habits look like through a self-analysis that will include your current nutritional habits as well as your exercising habits. Once the baseline data has been collected and recorded, you will use the information gathered to create a plan that you will follow or can see yourself following (meaning it is realistic for you) that focus on exercise and nutrition.
To complete the assignment, refer to the information discussed in class that focuses on the topics of nutrition and the health-related fitness components, which include exercise and its modalities. This information will be useful and helpful as you navigate your assignment, including all the necessary information.
The assignment will include specific information and details about each topic. Use information covered within class and provided to you within the presentations to give detailed descriptions about nutrition and health related fitness components. Explain the topics in detail as if you are presenting this to someone who is unfamiliar with the topic. You will first explain the topic at hand, then explain your habits and how they relate to the topic. For the nutritional analysis, explain what your current eating habits look like, what you feel strongly about versus what you know could use more focus and work. Similar with the exercise/fitness component portion, you will in great detail explain the 5 health related fitness components individually, explain how they are to be conducted/tested, benefits they offer, what effect they have on the body, and finally explain the test you completed and what your results said about the component.
Your writing should include the following when reference the fitness components and the nutritional aspects covered in class:
The first portion of the project requires a clear and concise explanation of nutrition, focusing on the macronutrients and micronutrients discussed as well as all five fitness components and clearly state the differences they all possess. Each component will be addressed and analyzed separately. Explain each topic with great detail, as though you are explaining nutrition and fitness to someone who has no prior knowledge. Use the information provided to you in class. This information does NOT need to be cited using proper APA format. Any additional information used must be cited both in-text and as a reference page using proper APA format.
For nutrition, make sure the following information in included:
Define and thoroughly explain the nutritional component
State the benefit of the component
How is it important for our body and our well-being
What is the best method of consumption
Give examples of good forms versus bad forms, explain what makes them good and what makes them bad
For the fitness components, explain all 5 of the health-related fitness components (cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, & body composition). Each section must include the following information:
Define, specifically, each fitness component
State benefits of each component
Methods and forms of testing
Techniques, protocols, set-up, steps, data collection, recorded results
Result interpretation
All information indicated above must be included in your writing. Missing portions will result in a 5-point deduction for all information missed. Your writing must include details and descriptive.
Your writing must be typed, double- spaced, 12-point font, and written in Times New Roman. All papers must have a minimum word count of 2,000 words, including the nutritional and exercise plan. Papers can exceed 2,000 words but cannot be any less. Papers must be written using APA format which includes a title page, abstract (brief summary of the entire paper, stating the purpose, how it was done/completed, and results), introduction, labeled headings, multiple paragraphs, reflection, and conclusion. APA format requires headings for your paper, which is labeling each section you will be discussing. Headings need to be left aligned, same font and size as the paper, and will be bolded. Subheadings will stay the same font and size as the paper and will be italicized.
