This is an 8000 word dissertation for the end of my Digital Film Production degree. The topic is free, but it is essential to use some of the film theories such as: formalism and structuralism, feminism, masculinity, queer thoery or autheur theory. Because of the subject of this dissertation I think that feminism, queer theory and formalism have to be present in the paper. I have attached a 2000 proposal with my tutor corrections and the criteria, I would like this paper to continue along the lines of this proposa (with some freedom to adjust as necessary).
The general idea of the paper is: By depicting the love story between two young women in an honest and natural way, “Blue is the Warmest Colour” challenges the traditional Hollywood model of depicting lesbian relationships as either scandalous or art.
Another thought that is not added to the role is to separate the work from the author, because it is Kechiche who is the “problem” of this film.
I’ve made an outline for the dissertation based on that new idea added to the proposal:
I. Introduction
A. Overview of the controversy surrounding “Blue is the Warmest Colour” and Abdellatif Kechiche
B. Explanation of the topic: analyzing the sex scene in “Blue is the Warmest Colour” and separating the artist from the art
C. Thesis statement: When separating the artist to the art, “Blue is the Warmest Colour” opens the door to the creation of more mainstream films with scenes that accept sex between homosexual women as natural.

B. Analysis of the cinematography and camera angles used in the scene
C. Discussion of the performances of the actresses involved

C. Discussion of the impact of this portrayal on the audience’s perception of lesbian sex
V. Separating Abdellatif Kechiche from his work
A. Explanation of the controversy surrounding Kechiche and the allegations against him
B. Arguments for and against supporting the film despite the controversy
C. Importance of separating the artist from the art in this case
VI. The impact of “Blue is the Warmest Colour”
A. Analysis of the film’s impact on mainstream cinema
B. Explanation of how the film opens the door for more films with scenes that accept sex between homosexual women as natural
C. Examples of films that followed “Blue is the Warmest Colour” and the impact they had on society
