Population pediatric patients since I work at a pediatric hospital.
Ways to prevent surgical site infections in my plan: proper hand hygiene, keeping surgical field sterile at all times. Setting up and during procedure. Making sure there is minimal traffic throughout room during surgery. Checking instruments for sterility. Making sure child does not get hypothermic. And applying final dressing in a sterile manner.
My plan is to for a committee to discuss these matters and what is found during audits and then disseminate this to surgical team and the quality control committee. My original presentation to disclose this plan is this month and I will be presenting a poster. To do so. I may have more instructions in the morning but the website is currently down.
