Can you be certain that you are not dreaming at any particular time after reading the Meditations and considering the concepts discussed?

Descartes put every one of his beliefs to proof in the First Meditation of his Meditations on First Philosophy. He raises an epistemological issue that later philosophers came to refer to as “the problem of dreaming,” which is the inability to consistently differentiate between waking life and dreams on a qualitative level. It is not completely obvious whether Descartes’ argument has been successful, even though by the Sixth Meditation, he is convinced that he is actually awake when he believes himself to be awake (after all, God would never systematically deceive him). How does Descartes support his final opinion on dreams? Is his case persuasive? Can you be certain that you are not dreaming at any particular time after reading the Meditations and considering the concepts discussed? Can you demonstrate that you are not hallucinating right now? Can you provide evidence that the universe you perceive as real is, in fact, real? Is it possible to present such a case without first trying to establish God’s existence?
