Research Methods – Descriptive Statistics

Your descriptive statistics section should include:

An estimate of how many organizations in the total population of religious organizations are individuals (1); religious houses or worship/instruction (2); and religious nonprofits (3) (This estimate should be calculated using CONFIDENCE INTERVALS. You choose .01 or .05 level of confidence, but specify in your writing.)
An estimate of how many organizations in the total population of religious organizations belong to a given faith tradition (1-99). Again, use confidence intervals to help you calculate the “cushion” around the sample statistic.
Aggregate your faith categories. Report the sample statistics for the 1-99 codes and then aggregate them and report the statistics (using confidence intervals) for the “larger buckets” of faith categories, these include:
Roman Catholic
Jewish
White Evangelical Protestants
White Mainstream Protestant
Black Protestant (breakdown below)
Other Faiths
Mormon
Christian, Non-Affiliated
