The APA Literature Review Paper can be on any topic in Motivational Psychology. The
instructor will allow students some latitude in choice of a research paper topic. References for
the paper cannot be any of our required texts. All references must be: (1) paginated [so
that the reader can locate the quote by page number]; (2) scholarly and peer-reviewed
which generally means your references will be of three basic types: (a) scholarly, peer-reviewed
academic journals; (b) a dissertation or a master’s thesis; or (c) a scientific book written by an
academic expert from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 level research university. Any other type of source is
not acceptable. Some examples of unacceptable sources are: unreliable or invalid sources
such as Wikipedia; publications that are non-academic such as online newspapers, online blogs
online magazines, online chat rooms or discussions online, websites or any non-paginated
source or reference. Academic citations should make it clear where the reader can locate the
quotation or source. In general, there should be at least one literary citation for every page
of written content. A superior paper for letter grades in the “A” or “A-“categories below will
require three basic elements written in APA Style: [1] a Title Page; [2] a 13 page or more
Review of the Literature; and finally [3] a Reference Section that includes a minimum of 10
acceptable sources. Nothing else should be included. The number of written pages in Review
of the Literature and the number of scholarly peer-reviewed paginated sources in the
references are very important criteria in paper evaluation. The research paper criteria for all

will scan each paper for plagiarism in accordance with university policies on academic
