Write an essay that focuses on your strengths, how they will support you as a college student, and what college support service your may still need to lean upon to ensure success.
These tasks will help you create and focus your essay:
Analyze your strengths in the context of this course and your position as a college student.
What are your strengths?
What strengths have you built up through your past formal education?
What strengths do you feel you have learned informally from your community, culture, family, experiences?
Do you consider your strengths deeply ingrained in your personality, values, etc.?
Evaluate your strengths in the context of this course and your position as a college student.
Think about how these strengths can/will support you as a college student.
How do your strengths specifically link up with the work you do in our class or in other college classes?
How can/will you use these strengths when you meet an obstacle in college?
Assess your need for support
Consider your desire for success and any gap you might have in your own abilities and strengths.
What on our campus can support you in your time here at Cypress College?
The topic implies a link to success, so you can connect your discussion to that theme.

Submission Requirements
The final draft submission has 4 days of grace.
Final draft (750 words minimum) – must be submitted to this assignment.
This submission has a grace period of 24 hours before it will be considered late.
This Canvas submission will automatically enter your essay into Turnitin.com.
This assignment will be graded based on the requirements stated above and in the attached rubric.
How do I see my grade and feedback?
In Canvas, you will only see brief comments and your grade. I will leave detailed comments in Turnitin.com, so you must go to Turnitin.com to see my comments!
In Canvas: Go to the GRADES link to find your assignments Canvas has a help page for this.
In Turnitin: Log into Turnitin with the account you created. From the list of assignments, select View Feedback for the relevant assignment. Purple bubbles are computer-generated grammar comments. Blue bubbles and any other text comments are from me. Turnitin.com has a help page (Links to an external site.) for this.
What do I do after my paper is graded?
This will depend on your grade and your desired grade.
If you get the grade you desire, you only need to review comments in Turnitin and transfer any important notes to your Editing and Grammar Collaboration document so that you can keep all helpful comments in one place. This will allow you to easily review and apply these notes to future assignments before you submit them. The goal is to use feedback on graded papers to improve new papers BEFORE you submit for grading.
If you want to revise your paper for a chance to improve your grade, you must do the following within two weeks of receiving a grade:
Conference with me. We can meet on Zoom (or in-person) for a 10-minute conference to discuss feedback and revision focus.
Revise your paper.
Resubmit by either emailing the new version to me or sharing it with me in a second conference. Do NOT resubmit via Canvas or Turnitin.
NOTE: I will put notes about our conferences, discussions, revision work, and grade changes in this assignment to keep us both clear about where you are at in the process.
