The term has been spotlighted by a few notable public figures recently due, in part, to the 2020 Democratic Primary and the 2020 US Presidential Election. For this assignment, you’ll answer the following questions: what is your view/opinion on intergenerational justice? Are there any “good” reasons for conflict between generations of Americans? Is the older generation exploiting the younger (or vice versa)? Do you agree with Mayor Buttigieg (who is now US Secretary of Transportation) that most of the Democratic candidates for the 2020 Democratic Primary were “too old?” Feel free to use the readings this week to support your answers, and feel free to pull in outside materials as well (e.g., Buttigieg was not the only candidate to discuss equity and conflict between generations, and this is a topic that has come up in several election cycles).
Your submission this week will need to be 2-3 pages in length, with any applicable references properly cited using APA formatting. Your submission will require the following:
Share your view on intergenerational justice and conflict (and whether you think conflict is beneficial in some instances)
Discuss whether you think different generations are “exploiting” one another (and, if so, in what capacity – here, it may help to provide an example)
State whether you agree or disagree with Buttigieg’s views on age in the Democratic Primary (and why or why not)
