Examining the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory: Fact or Fiction?

This paper will be at least 9 paragraphs long.
As noted above, for this paper you will use a version of the Ancient Greek Stasis Theory.
Your paper will have FIVE sections:
Facts (1-2 paragraphs): In this section, you will describe your Conspiracy Theory (CT). As you are required to find a CT that focuses on something that actually happened in the real world, you need to cite a source that supports this argument. Some of the classic questions you will answer in this section of your paper include:
Did something happen?
What happened?
How long has it been going on?
Definition (2-3 paragraphs): In this section, you will provide more details about the Discourse Community you found. You should be very specific here–how does your DC fit the 6 categories that Swales argues define a DC? In this section, you NEED to find a real-world community devoted to your chosen CT. Reddit is a great place to look! Some of the classic questions you will answer in this section of your paper include:
What is the nature of issue/problem?
What kind of the problem or issue it is?
Who is involved?
What are the different parts of this problem and how do they relate?
Cause (2-3 paragraphs): In this section, you will get into the details about why it continues. You should be very specific here, as well. Spend one whole paragraph analyzing a specific kind meme or source this DC uses. What does this tell you about how people in this DC value different kinds of info and rhetoric? This is a good opportunity to cite sources such as the ones we read in Unit 3 of the course about who subscribes to CTs and why. You might also think about the material from Week 8–who is profiting from your CT? Some of the classic questions you will answer in this section of your paper include:
What caused the problem?
Who was involved?
Why does it continue?
Quality (2-3 paragraphs): In this section, you will make an argument about the severity of the problem and what happens if we fail to stop people from believing your CT. Some of the classic questions you will answer in this section of your paper include:
Is it good or bad?
Moral/immoral?
Effective/ineffective?
How severe is the problem?
What are the consequences and who are the most affected people by this problem?
What happens if problem isn’t solved?
What happens if problem is solved successfully?
Action/Jurisdiction (at least 2 paragraphs): In this section, you will suggest a plan of action–who should act and what should they do? Be very specific! stay focused on your DC! This is your “call to action,” and you might wish to cite material from Week 9 here. Some of the classic questions you will answer in this section of your paper include:
What should we do about the problem?
Who should be involved into problem-solving process?
What should be done regarding this problem?
What needs to happen to solve the problem?
