Annotated BIbliography
Write the reference in APA form (see library links at Blackboard for help)
For each article, answer the following questions:
1. The main purpose of this article is _____. State as accurately as possible the author’s purpose for conducting the research.
2. The key question/concept that the author is addressing is____. Determine the key question/concept in the mind of the author(s) when the article was written.
3. The main inferences/ conclusions in this article are ___, Identify the key conclusions the author comes to and presents in this article.
4. How did the researcher collect the information (methodology)? What data analysis was implemented?
5. The limitations of this study are ___. Figure out the limitations or problems with
this study (you will need to mention this briefly in your summary). Note: the author will state the limitations in the discussion section.
6. Future research should State what the author suggests should be the focus of future research. If authors don’t give this, say so!
Summary
Introduce the problem – What research question are you investigating and why is it important to investigate?
Integrate your articles together to explain how they address your research question.
Do not simply list them one at a time and describe them. Answer the research question in several paragraphs using the articles simultaneously if possible.
Be sure to mention the limitations of the studies you reviewed (because they may affect our interpretation of the results).
Future research. Discuss where future research on the topic should go as a function of having answered your research question (this is YOUR research idea, not the articles you described). This generally goes in its own paragraph.
Summary/Conclusion. Make sure you have a summary and/or a conclusion paragraph to make sure it is clear that you HAVE answered the research question and that you explain WHY the topic is important to investigate.
