In this week’s readings we have covered broader socio-economic and political changes brought about by the SARS epidemic in the early 2000s and COVID-19s in the 2020s. Your job for this paper is to select ONE key similarity and ONE key difference in how governments across the world, including China and the U.S., handled these contagious diseases. You will need to address how ordinancies and policies implementing to control contagion may have impacted economies and social behavior (e.g., ‘social scarring’) at the macro- and micro-geographic levels.
Remember to evaluate your statements critically and support them with evidence, always citing your sources. The incorporation of extra personal reflections and/or personal examples is welcome (but it cannot substitute the due readings).
