: The key to showing a sociological understanding is to connect family experiences to the larger social structure. For example, think about cultural background, social class and mobility, socialization, gender roles, expectations about sexuality, ideals about love, dating experiences, cohabitation, marriage, divorce, family formation, and parenting practices. What factors have shaped your families’ experiences and how have those impacted your life? How do these relate to bigger structures and patterns in society?
You should discuss at least 5 different concepts from class, though more is generally better – try to have a broad range of concepts from different sections of the course. If you need a starting point for concepts, you can always look at the “wrap up” section in each module.
