HIST820 week4: Syllabus: Residential Course Assignment

INSTRUCTIONS
Each student will create a sample syllabus for a 16-week residential course. As a reminder, this
syllabus must be developed using the same course used for the Syllabus: Online Course
Assignment.
Your residential syllabus can follow any format, but must include the following information:
 Course Name
 Rationale
 Description
 Course Learning Outcomes
 Grade Scale
 Late Policy
 Course Reading Material, including full bibliographical information
 Course Schedule
Course Schedule: Module Titles with brief (3-5 sentence description) of content covered in each
module, as well as at least 1 assignment with total point value and the title of one presentation
per week. These presentations are ones that you, as instructor, would make yourself for an actual
class. You do not need to describe the assignments or presentations. Please make sure that your
assignments add up to 1000 points.
Course Reading Material: You also need to include book chapters or article titles for readings
each week.
Grade Scale and Late Policy: Your syllabus should also include a grade scale and late policy.
If you want, you can use those from this course or any other course you’ve had before. Those
need not be original.
Note: This 16-week syllabus is the same course as the 8-week course, so you will need to adjust
your modules, readings, assignments, and presentations accordingly. Also, when outlining your
modules for a 16 week course, don’t forget holiday breaks!
