This final exam is intended to further your understanding of how industry or corporate potential are shaped by economic principles and public policy. You should write a report of no more than 5 pages (excluding figures, references, and appendices) using APA format.
2. Report
Students will research online macroeconomic and microeconomic media articles about the next 12 months anticipated Canadian and US interest rates and economic data such as anticipated employment rates, consumer sentiment, and fiscal policy. Students are encouraged to find articles from the top news outlets such as New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Economist that provide a deep analysis.
Students will choose a corporate stock or industry and describe the effect that the anticipated micro- and macro-economic conditions over the next year will have on the stock/industry.
The Final Exam report should include:
– Research results of anticipated macro- and micro-economic conditions.
– Conclusion as to the anticipated overall favourability of the economic environment.
– Assessment of what are the economic key success factors for an industry or company.
– Conclusion as to the viability of a stock/industry over the next year due to the anticipated economic conditions
Provide a proper citation of any resource used in this work.
3 Marks
Students should demonstrate an understanding of how economic factors have individual and combined effects on a stock/industry.
Economic factors can individually and in combination increase or decrease the potential on a stock/industry depending on how they interact.
Students should be able to summarize and present an opinion from concepts in the course literature what the anticipated summary effect should be.
