Write a paper assessing a case for a person in the military with symptoms of PTSD. The case will be given to you two weeks before it is due. You will (1) assess the case and (2) choose a treatment plan. You will indicate (A) who you would include in treatment and (B) why, (C) explain the intervention, (D) the theory behind it, (E) different components of the treatment, and (F) how it is delivered in this case. CASE
A 26-year-old African American male Army Reservist was deployed to Afghanistan in June, 2010, for 6 months. He was medically evacuated from the war theater after an improvised explosive device blew up under the vehicle in which he was riding. The force of the blast propelled him upward, causing him to strike his head on the top of the vehicle. At the time he was first seen by the clinical behavioral health component of the Traumatic Brain Injury clinic, but because he developed symptoms of PTSD and was so anxious, they recommended he get help. He was restricting his activities because of his fears for his safety and was using alcohol to cope with his feelings. He was having nightmares almost nightly that caused him to wake with a pounding heart and profuse sweating. He would not go out in public without a concealed firearm and even had an incident when he became hyper-aroused and shot the weapon into the air. His parents were also concerned for his safety and they took the weapon and locked it up. His wife was very alarmed because of his nightmares and feared for her life. Because his wife insisted and his parents was worried, he decided to come to your clinic for help.
You work in an outpatient clinic that offers a wide range of treatment modalities. These include individual, family, and group therapy.
