Write a visual rhetorical analysis of a documentary film. Documentary films use
a variety of methods (e.g., images, words, sounds, and various film techniques)
in order to present an argument. In Essay 2, you will analyze the rhetorical,
visual, and persuasive strategies employed by the filmmaker in the construction
of the film’s argument. The essay must be at least 3-5 pages in length, double spaced, and typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
The use of outside sources — beyond the documentary film—
is not required on this assignment, and
the essay must follow MLA style format and include a Works Cited page with the
documentary film citation (not included in the above page length). The exclusion
of a works cited page with the required full MLA citations would signify
plagiarism, and
points will be deducted from the essay as
a result. Additional sources used
must also be cited. You may select a
documentary on any topic or issue of interest, as long as it is at least 30
minutes in duration. You may choose to use this documentary film as a source in
Essay 3 and 4, if it is relevant to your research topic. Alternatively, you may
select a documentary that completely unrelated, on a different topic of
interest, and more enjoyable for you to watch and analyze in Essay 2
