Discuss whether or not you feel a highfat, high-protein, low-carbohydrate nutrition plan is the best choice for an 800 M track athlete.

Discuss whether or not you feel a high-fat,
high-protein, low-carbohydrate nutrition plan is the best choice for an 800 M
track athlete in the following scenario:
Kip is an 800-meter track athlete who has read
many nutrition books hoping to find the ideal diet for his sport. Based on his
readings, Kip knows that dietary protein is needed to help his muscles recover
from training. He is now convinced that a high-fat, high-protein, low
carbohydrate diet may be the best choice. As Kip’s nutrition coach, you
disagree.
Answer the following questions in the discussion
prompt. Please include your response directly into the Blackboard Text Box, not
as a separate attachment:
a.
What energy system(s) does an athlete running the 800-meter event
rely on for energy?
b. Bioenergetically,
what are the nutrition needs to support energy for Kip’s competition?
c.
Is Kip on the right track with regard to nutrient intake?
d. How would you explain
whether or not he should follow this new diet?
Use a minimum of 3
