As discussed on the first day of class, one of the main goals of CYBR620 is to help students identify which direction they would like to take their career in cybersecurity. The field proves difficult to navigate at times and individuals without clear goals oftentimes find career progression difficult. However, equally difficult is understanding what roles and careers are available. To wit, the NIST 800-181 policy, issued in 2017, lists cybersecurity job roles as defined by the leading US agency of measurements and standards.
Students will write a five-page paper identifying which role(s), from NIST 800-181, they feel are most beneficial for their career interests. They will dissect the role(s) and listing their benefits and challenges. Additionally, they will identify at least one example of the role(s) used in today’s workforce. The page count of 5 pages does not include a title page or abstract or sources cited.
