Pathophysiology Faith Integration Assignment

A.J., age 84, has just been admitted to the hospital with nausea and vomiting and has been assigned as your patient. He has just recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and is now unable to get out of bed. His mental status is intact, but he is very lethargic at times. His wife of 60 years and his son and daughter-in-law are present at the bedside and are trying to decide whether to treat aggressively or to admit him to hospice. When you enter the room to reposition Mr. J., the family asks you what your opinion is.

Part 1: In 500 – 550 words, please complete the following. 15 points
Discuss whether you consider this to be a spiritual decision.
Briefly describe how you would address their concerns to assist them with their decision making.
NOTE: Please include citations to support your discussion of why or why not you feel this is a spiritual issue for A.J. and the family as well as your rationale for your approach.

Using appropriate references, identify a 3-part Nursing Diagnosis for A.J. and his family’s spiritual needs. Also, identify one (1) outcome and three (3) interventions for your Nursing Diagnosis that would help Mr. J. and his family work through their spiritual needs.
