A statement of philosophy acts as a framework for you to use when deciding on a setting to work in, designing your program, and supporting children and families; it defines you as a professional. The AssignmentPart 1: Mind mapMind maps help us organize our thoughts and gather all required information prior to writing it out in a succinct manner. Reflect on your views, beliefs and values about teaching and learning, class discussions, readings from this and other courses and placement experiences. Keeping in mind the key ideas outlined below, use a tool such as Pictochart, Power Point, Prezi, Bubbl or another digital tool to create a mind map of your philosophy. Key ideas are to be explored separately or together: •Your image of the child•The image and role of the educator•Your view of families and communities •Your view of the environment Within your mind map, include references to literature and personal experiences that impact(ed) your values and beliefs. Explain how theory(ies), worldview(s) and/or pedagogical approach(es) influence each one of the key components. Philosophy
1. My
role as an educator is to teach children life skills. The children should have
a safe place that they can play, learn, and have fun in. I can foster
relationships with parents, children and other professionals by positive
interactions with them just by being understanding and professional. I am
unique because I have a passion for children and love working with them. I am
told I am fun, outgoing, enthusiastic, and creative. I believe being and ECE is
an important career because the children are the future and how we mold them is
how society is going to develop.
2. In
my belief I feel like its important to include the four foundations of how does
leaning happened in my curriculum because I believe that belonging, well-being,
engagement and expression are important part in child development. I feel like
play based learning is key to a child’s development because the child is able
to explore things that they are intrusted in and therefor will want to explore
more rather then being told what to do.
3. A
child’s most important years are from birth to age 5. Children go through
stages of development as they grow and learn. They develop their physical,
mental, social, emotional and moral skills as they grow. I am simply here to guide the child as they
learn and grow. It is important for me to make the child feel safe and listen
to them so that they have a sense of security.
4. P
partnerships play a big role in the community because without supports from the
community I can’[t help the families because we cant completely rely on the
government for the supports needed to help the children and families.
5. A
child’s physical environment plays and important part in their emotional,
physical, and mental development and growth. The space should include a well
designed indoor and outdoor space with lots of resources for the children to be
able to play with.
