Consider the cultural influences or ‘layers’ of your childhood, including socioeconomic status (SES), regional/language issues, faith beliefs, family structure, ethnic/ immigration/history. Also, consider events and circumstances which impacted your family’s shared experience and current experience (such as poverty, divorce, adoption, mental illness). How did these events and/or the groups to which you belong impact the development of your self-identity, beliefs, expectations, assumptions and worldview?
Write an approximately 900 word paper analyzing these influences. This is not a paper to discuss your life story. Rather, you should analyze your own worldview according to the material you have read this week. In other words, center your discussion on the concepts presented in the texts in order to demonstrate your understanding of them and your ability to apply them correctly. You must cite from at least (3)three sources in this paper, and your ability to integrate the concepts in your texts to deepen your discussion will be reflected in your grade. Examples of specific concepts you might consider using are: worldview, groups, Individualism, Collectivism, emic, etic, ethnocentric,values, assumptions, Value Orientation Model, ethnicity, norms, Worldview Model, cultural beliefs.
Your paper should be double-spaced, size 12 Times New Roman, with 1 inch margins. Include an APA title page, and an APA references page (not included in required length). You may use the first-person voice for this assignment.
