RE: Experiential Model
Professor,
This therapy is an approach that uses active and multisensory techniques. The different techniques can include role-plays and or drawing. This approach is here to help and assist changes and growth in the family unit. This approach is when more traditional communications are not getting the therapist anyway (Tuttle, 1998). This approach brings real experiences that the family is having to them in front of the family members’ minds and explains what they are feeling about this issue or experience for all to experience those feelings (Editorial Staff, 2020).
“Such theories can serve as a roadmap for therapists to follow during the complex journey into the psyche of another human being” ( Goldsher, 2021). this approach is all about having all the family members experience what they are feeling in an event. All the family members need to understand and walk a mile in someone’s else shoes ( Goldsher, 2021).
This approach seems to be something that opens the family members’ eyes about what each family member was feeling within a certain event. This writer was particularizing that the family was not going to take well to this approach. But this writer was pretty; however, they realized that the whole family was involved, took direction, and participated. This approach seemed to be worked with the family and see how the mother felt in that event that the family had an issue with ( Sohale Vu,2015). Using the method ( sculpting exercise) was the best method that the therapist can do to see how the family is feeling is essential to explain how everyone is feeling. Something that brough to this writers’ thought was that this was their fourth session. Usually, this approach would be the last try approach when verbal communication was not successful. When using this sculpting method, the family members share how they are feeling about the issues about the situations. That can make memories and feelings emerge and repeatedly resurface (Last Resort Recovery, 2019).
In the video’s reaction, this writer likes that the family agreed with trying this approach. This writer thinks that something is missing and would ask about his father and why he was not there or if he is a part of the issues. There was little worry about what they would be asked to do, but the family had been good sports and gone through the approach. Something that this writer thought about what that the three people ( mom, brother, and the redhead daughter) were all annoyed in their response, but the black hair daughter was stating loved and friendly, which was strange that she had picked this those words and the animal ( Cat) to express how she was feeling about the event that everyone was discussing about( Sohale Vu,2015).
This writer had reviewed this video about experiential family therapy; she would not change anything about this session. This session was short, but the therapist shared that she will be taking each session and letting each family member express what they were feeling when they were discussing. This writer had thought that it was vital that they have a chance to discuss what was happening with their thoughts about the discussed event. The therapist shared each step and then thanked the family for sharing even though they did not need to share( Sohale Vu,2015).
