Overview
The Liberty Hope Foundation (LHF) is a small nonprofit organization founded in 2010. The organization helps families of children with disabilities combat social stigmas, ease their financial burden, and find emotional support. In order to continue to serve the needs of the families they support, LHF wants to build a brand-new, state-of-the-art medical facility and community center to complement and expand on the services they currently provide. This facility will provide care for young adults over the age of 21 who are transitioning out of pediatric care. In order to build this facility, LHF is launching a capital campaign. The goal is to raise $5 million in 12 months in order to start construction on the new facility. To officially kick off the capital campaign, they are planning to hold a major launch event this time next year.
You are the communications manager for LHF and you are responsible for developing and implementing a strategic communication plan for the LHF capital campaign and launch event. You are also the project manager for this part of the campaign, and you are responsible for developing a project plan for the strategic communication plan and making sure it is executed successfully. It is also you responsibility to make sure the project is executed on time and within budget. Here are the key elements of the company that you need to take into consideration when developing the project scope and outreach plan:
Employees
Employees include the founder, the director of programs, the communications manager (you), and the administrative assistant.
Board of Directors
There are five members.
One member (not the chairman) has agreed to be the project sponsor and liaison to the board.
Prompt
Project Scope and Outreach Plan
Your supervisor has asked you to create a project plan for the strategic communication campaign in order to share it with the board of directors at their next meeting. For this first milestone, you will create a project scope and outreach plan as part of your project plan. Specifically, you will need to complete the following:
Summarize the project objectives and overall scope for achieving the $5 million fundraising goal.
Identify the project’s target audience and the stakeholders who will need to be kept informed as the project progresses. Be sure to provide a rationale for why you have identified the specific audience and stakeholders appropriate for this project.
Describe an outreach plan that details how you will reach the target audience. Make sure you include communication types and channels.
Define what metrics you will use to track progress and how you will measure and report results.
Refer to the module resources for additional support to complete this milestone assignment.
Guidelines for Submission
Submit your project scope and outreach plan as a 350- to 500-word Microsoft Word document written in APA format. Cite any references in APA format.
You are highly encouraged to use the template you created in Module One to complete this milestone. You do not have to focus on the other parts of the project plan at this time; you only need to submit the project scope and outreach plan portion. This is located in uploaded files.
