For this assignment, which involves two parts, students are to pick one particular sub-community to research (e.g. African American, high SES male college students, Latinx, first-generation women college students, non-traditional white women college students, white bisexual male students, GLBTQ college students of color, Indigenous college students, etc.). Additionally, you must include race as an identity marker, you can add another identity to race, but race must be included. Meaning, if you want to study how LGBT students adjust to college life in their first year on campus, you must also include the differences in experiences amongst LGBT students of color and LGBT, white students. As part of this project, each student will write a literature review based on the research that exists on the identities they choose to study.
