Define neo-racism, using quotes from the essay to support your definition.

This will not be a “Critical Summary” in that you will not Problematize or Extend, but you will Introduce, Explain, and Exemplify (see p. 67-69)
Be sure to include the following in your summary:
Identify Lee’s argument (Hint: She actually writes “I and my collaborators argue…”)
Define neo-racism, using quotes from the essay to support your definition.
Examples that Lee presents as evidence of “neo-racism” in American education
Examples of how China has been criminalized
Because both “neo-racism” and “criminalization” appear in the title of the essay, it is important that these are included in your summary.
Writing Note: It is critical that when you are making an argument that whatever terms you use are defined clearly so that the audience understands exactly what you mean. For example, Lee writes: “Neo-racism can also be observed in academia” (Lee ii). Before she could make a statement like that, she needed to define neo-racism and contextualize the term for the reader.
Be sure to use quotes and in-text citations (MLA format) where appropriate. I will not “count-off” for incorrect formatting, but do try to include them. The page numbers are Roman numerals: i, ii, iii, iv, v. An example would be: (Lee iii).
Include a “Work Cited” section at the end of your summary. Below is the entry:
