Every week you are asked to perform readings related to course themes and summarize and critically respond to these readings in writing and in-class discussion. Each week you are asked to read all the assigned texts and to select TWO assigned readings for that week to summarize and discuss in writing. Summarize the two readings in two-three concise and accurate paragraphs and follow your summaries with your written discussion of the two readings. Appropriate responses include your evaluation or criticism of arguments found in the reading, your suggestions for extending or modifying these arguments, finding points of connection or contradiction between readings, application of ideas found in the reading to analyze a specific issue of interest to you, and reflections on personal experiences touched on by the reading. You should include a variety of the above options (don’t only write personal thoughts). Each weekly SR should be 2-3 pages long (12 point font, double-spaced with 1” margins, uploaded as a document on Canvas [docx, doc,rtf, or pdf) before class time.
