PART A
Step 1: Community Observation

Use google maps to perform
virtual “windshield survey” for Ellenville NY (street view will be
helpful)

Step 3: Write
Create a Word document
(250–300 words, double-spaced, 12 pt font, and APA formatted) that summarizes
your observations of the community. Your summary should describe the community
for someone who has never heard of or visited it, and it should include the reasons
you selected this community.
PART B
Based on your observations
and research in Part A, create a Word document (750–800 words, double-spaced,
12 pt font, and APA formatted) that contains the following information:
1.
Identify the geographic
boundaries of the selected community (Ellenville, NY)
2.
Describe the community’s
physical characteristics. That is, how long has the community existed? What are
the demographic data of its members, such as age, race, sex, ethnicity,
housing, and population density? (Provide data if possible.)
3.
Describe the
psychosocial characteristics of the members: religion, socioeconomic class,
occupation, unemployment, education, marital status, etc. (Provide data if
possible.)
4.
Describe physical
environmental factors concerning the quality of air, water, housing,
sanitation, safety, recreation, work, or home environment. (Provide data if
possible.)
5.
Describe the health
status of the county where your community is located. Identify the major cause
of death, and the disease or health problems in that community. (Provide data
if possible.)
6.
Identify one problem you
will investigate for the remainder of the course and explain why you have
selected this problem.
