Initial Post Writing Topic (150+words):
After exploring and researching your selected topic for the argument essay independently, this forum will allow students the opportunity to solidify their argument and receive feedback from peers by addressing the following issues:
In a single thesis statement, identify your topic, claim, and 3 main points.
In a few sentences, summarize the details of your main points and the types of support or evidence (research) you will use to prove that your thesis is true.
In a few sentences, explain the way that you plan to present your counter-argument in the refutation paragraph (What would people who disagree with you say and why are they wrong?)
Draft a reworded version of the thesis that uses different wording to restate the main points, claim, and topic.
(skip a line) In a few sentences, identify the hardest part of developing the argument and the areas in which you are confident, most concerned, or need help.
Response Post Writing Topic (75+words each):
After completing the initial post, respond to two classmates’ posts by providing feedback on their post that will help them in revising their ideas for the argumentative research essay. This may include:
identifying the parts of the argument that are clearly written
providing advice for correcting or revising portions that may be confusing
offering suggestions for ideas or areas of the topic that are not considered or included
critiquing the reworded thesis with advice for word choice or order
responding to their last few sentences by addressing their concerns and sharing your experiences
