societal issue of concern today

You will select a societal question from a list I will provide and read one fiction and nonfiction story that goes with the question (provided in the list). There needs to be an introduction paragraph with a hook to grab the reader’s attention (1-2 sentences), background information offering a brief summary of the fiction story and anything the readers need to know about the history of the topic (2-3 sentences), and thesis statement answering the question. There also needs to be one body paragraph using a quote from the fiction story that supports your thesis with an explanation of how the quote supports your thesis (2-3 sentences). Then do the same with a second quote from the same fictional story. Then end that first body paragraph with a summary/transition (what is the big takeaway message about your supporting point? What do you want the reader to remeber most about this paragraph?) Then you need to do a second body paragraph doing the same exact thing but with 2 quotes from the nonfiction story. Lastly, there needs to be a conclusion paragraph restating your thesis statement, summarzing your argument by recapping your main points without mentioning any new ideas (1-2 sentences), and a “so what?” statement explaining why this debate/topic is important. The files I uploaded are the playlist with the options of questions and story links that go along with each question, as well as the outline. In the playlist, you pick which question you want to write about then use the fiction story that goes with it (on the left side) and the nonfiction story right next to the question (on the right side)
