Describe your sexual education courses or lessons in a formal educational setting. Would you say it was closer to “abstinence only” or “comprehensive sex ed”? Would you prefer your own children to receive “abstinence only,” “comprehensive sex ed,” or no sexual education in school? Why?

Sexual education was not and still is not offered at my High School. If I’m not mistaken some schools in the system such as Eastside offer the class to fifth graders during health, it’s a hour long class that is only offered one day out of the school year, unless they have changed it this is how it is at all elementary schools, and then when the children cross over to middle school, there is a health class that is offered ONLY if you selected gym as one of your connections and that class is a week long out of one complete school year. At the highschool, as far as my knowledge I can say that there are NO sexual education classes being taught, they might be but sexual prevention programs are not being advertised through the school like they advertise the drug free programs. I would say the short classes that are offered are comprehensive sex ed classes because they talk about birth control, condoms, being tested, and things that involve the act itself and not the morals, emotion and energy that supposedly goes into “sexual relationships”, they don’t say that its right to only have sex while married or when you have a lifelong partner or you shouldn’t sleep around they just explain how to be safe. I would prefer my children, if I have any, to not be taught sexual education in school because it opens the can of worms that you dread to open at a wrongfully early age. I don’t believe schools should say anything about the birds and the bees in the 5 grade; and they should allow the parents time to tell their children or prepare them for any kind of sexual situation when they are aged or better yet when the child is experiencing puberty and having thoughts about their body part
