Social institutions play a major role in the lives of everyone who needs to gain access to resources and meet their needs. Social institutions are a needed source for our community but they can also impact the lives of individuals in negative ways. After reading Chapters 3 and 4, select one social institution where you or a family member had a negative experience and how did this impact in your lives? You are one of many who have these negative experiences and what may be the overall impact of affecting the larger system? For example, Black Lives Matter has become a movement for a reason. This is a great example how social institutions have impacted the lives of many in harmful ways.
