Write about something that you believe in and matters to you. Read carefully the instructions

Your essay should be 8 pages long. Make sure that you double-space your lines, and use perfect grammar. Again, use perfect grammar. Make sure that you write complete sentences. Anything other than a complete sentence will not be accepted.
Your essay must have a title. The title should be expressed with a sentence. This sentence will be your thesis, the position that you will defend. Here are some examples of theses: Human Beings Should Colonize Mars; God Exists; Abortion is Moral; Global Warming is Real; Abortion is Immoral; God Does Not Exist, etc.
Write about something that you believe in and matters to you. You get to choose your topic. You get to express YOUR thoughts. Whatever it is that you decide to write about, make sure that you state your belief (thesis) clearly and defend it with 3 good reasons. In other words, adhere to the Gordon Rule for writing.
Consider some examples. (Some of these examples are silly, but they are helpful and illustrative.) You may want to write about ghosts. So, you might entitle your paper “Ghosts Exist.” (Notice that “Ghosts Exist” is a complete sentence.) If this is your thesis, then give me 3 reasons for your claim that ghosts exist. You may put forward that (a) Mr. Johnson has photographic evidence of ghostly apparitions, (b) you have seen a ghost, and (c) there is a video of inanimate objects flying around in Mr. Ford’s house. (Of course, your paper must be 8 pages long; so you will have to expand on your reasons.) But you may want to write about something else; maybe, you want to defend the idea that Pluto is a planet. If so, then your title will be “Pluto is a Planet”. (Notice that “Pluto is a Planet” is a complete sentence.) If you want to defend the view that Pluto is a planet, then give 3 reasons for why Pluto is a planet. Perhaps, you think that women should get paid just as much as men do. Your title would possibly be “Women Should Earn Just as Much as Men”. If this is your topic, then give 3 reasons. Maybe, you want to defend the idea that there was a big-bang that led to the formation of the universe. If so, then give 3 reasons in support of the Big-Bang Theory, and be clear.
Write about whatever you want. Just make sure that your thesis is your title, and it is expressed with a complete sentence. All of your sentences must be complete.
Now, there are some rules. (a) The grammar must be perfect. I expect grammatically correct sentences. (b) In your first paragraph, state your thesis clearly by writing “in this paper I aim to show that…” and then your thesis. For example, “in this paper I aim to show that the U.S. should adopt the Metric System.” (c) In your first paragraph. You should briefly outline your 3 reasons. (d) Do not run your reasons together. If you are defending your thesis with one reason on page 2, do not write about the second reason until you are done with the first. Focus on one reason at a time. Don’t make a mess. (e) Make sure that each one of your reasons independently supports your thesis. (f) Do not “pad” the paper with repetitions, irrelevant information, etc. (g) Only 3 quotes are allowed in the entire paper, and each one should be no longer than 2 lines.
