Write an essay that is formulated as a Magazine Article on George Mason.

Write an essay that is formulated as a Magazine Article on George Mason. You cannot use the words “I” or “my.” I’ve attached the ruberic. Through out the article you will answer the following questions as if you are educating people who haven’t taken the course.

· What was the “consciousness” of George Mason — that is, his worldview and perspective on life?
· What would you speculate were his top strengths had he ever been able to take the VIA? An annotated list of all 24 strengths of the VIA will be uploaded to the Handouts folder on Blackboard. What are some details from his life story that demonstrate the Strengths and/or Values you pick for Mason?
(I’ve attached the handout with the 24 VIA strengths listed)
· In what ways might we be able to say that he was a happy man, keeping in mind that there are different ways of defining of happiness?
– Attached a document about what happiness is from Time Magazine
· In what ways could we say that Mason’s life had meaning?
· To what extent does it seem that Mason was able to meet the “four needs for meaning” as articulated by Roy Baumeister?
– The four needs of meaning are sense of purpose, core values, efficacy, and self-worth. When answering how Mason was able to meet these, focus on the following – What was going on in his life that gave him life purpose, and how does that impact the sense of giving his life meaning? What are his core values, and how does that influence what gives his life meaning? Where in his life did, he experience efficacy — that is, he had some control over what’s going on, and how does that impact meaning for him? And finally, what gives him a sense of self-worth, and how does that touch on meaning for him?
· What archetype(s) from Pearson’s book seem most relevant to Mason’s life journey and why?
– I’ve attached handout of the different archetype options. Some archetypes relevant to Mason could be Seeker (him seeking something such as ending slavery, etc. or ratifying the constitution, etc.) and Creator (him creating something such as the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc).
· How could the principles of Dr. Viktor Frankl’s “logotherapy” give us a way of interpreting or viewing Mason’s life?
– Dr. Frankl’s logotherapy was a psychotherapeutic system. Logotherapy is focused on the topic that meaning is found in at least one of the following areas of life: one’s accomplishments, loving relationships, and the way we deal with unavoidable suffering/adversity. One’s accomplishments is focused on how we utilize our skills and talents. Frankl believes that we need to make good decisions in the face of issues. That using the power of choice, we can choose which way to go. We can make bad situation even worse, or better. He explains that despair is suffering without meaning. We must find meaning by avoiding this, otherwise it’ll lead to worse situations like suicide. We must find each situation as a personal triumph.
· What was Mason’s “work” (using the 3-level model of job, career, and calling… which is found on the first page of ch 11 of the Resilience book)?
– I’ve attached the CHPT 11 reading to help answer this question.
· If his consciousness was still around and if he were able to “speak” to us today, what do you think he would want us to hold in our own consciousness about his biography?
