Intake and Treatment Planning 3.1
You are a family therapist that has just completed a comprehensive initial assessment of a family that includes Susan, the biological mother of two female adolescent children (Beth age 15, and Lucy age 13), and Susan’s wife Katie. During the comprehensive assessment, the following information was provided. Katie and Susan have been married for two years, and have lived together for four years. Beth recently began arguing with Katie and when Katie tries to discipline Beth, Susan steps in. Katie is upset because Susan allows Beth to do as she pleases and Susan does not follow through with any disciplinary measures. Lucy sat quietly in the corner during the assessment and only shrugged her shoulders when asked a question.
You will now collaborate with the family to develop a treatment plan. What kinds of information gathered during the assessment will play an important role in the development of the treatment plan? Identify two additional questions that you would want to ask the family to aid in the development of the treatment plan?
