USE TEXTBOOK= Johnson, C. E. & Hackman, M. Z. (2018). Leadership: A communication perspective (7thEd.). Long Grove, IL: Waveland Press.
1. Start your paper off with a short introductory paragraph
2. In the first part of your paper, respond to the following:
a. What obligation does a leader have to promote diversity and gender equality in an organization?
b. Describe servant leadership and servant followership and explain why you think taking that perspective might lead to more ethical decision-making for leaders.
c. What method would you find most helpful from a mentor in developing your leadership skill? Provide an example of an organization or group that you current (or may in the future) lead and how you would develop future leaders.
3. In the next part of your paper, I would like you to continue with your leadership self-assessments. How do these scores help you better to understand your views of diversity, ethics, and leadership development? What do these tell you about your view of leadership? Provide some detail (don’t forget to give your raw scores):
a. Cultural Intelligence Scale (p. 335)
b. Diversity Perceptions Scale (p. 344)
c. Perceived Leader Integrity Scale (p. 379)
d. Servant Leadership Questionnaire (p. 388)
e. Self-Perception of Leadership Skill (p. 403)
Make sure to include some detail in your responses and your understanding of each of these concepts. Make sure to include your actual scores!
4. In the final section of your paper, I would like you to spend some time really focused on reflecting on the entire course. By doing the following:
a. First, provide some information on what your expectations were coming into this course. How did the course meet, exceed, or fall short of those expectations?
b. Second, look back over all of your self-assessments in your reflections. Can you paint an overall picture of who you think as a leader? As a follower?
c. Third, reflect on what kind of leader you want to be. Is there a particular organization or group that you want to help lead? Do you see yourself as a leader? Do you feel more confident in your potential leadership skill after taking this course?
5. End your paper with a brief conclusion. I would like you to end your conclusion with your own quote on leadership (just like I ended every lecture). Have some fun with this!
