Students must write a 2-page critical review (font size 12 points, single-spaced) of two scientific manuscripts (will be assigned during the first and second weeks of the class). Students may structure the review in any style, but the critical review must include the following:
• A clear statement on the background information and collective aim of the experiments presented in the article and the investigative motivation(s) behind the aim.
• An objective and well-argued assessment as to whether the results presented achieved the aim.
• An assessment of the quality of the data presented, paying particular attention to the adequacy of controls, data presentation, and data interpretation by the authors.
• Suggestions for future work, highlighting shortcomings of current data or further questions arising from them.
