The last 18 months have been different. Identify a moment that has been particularly meaningful, difficult, comical or strange during this pandemic. Then, construct a piece of writing that uses much of the strategies we have learned about this summer (see list below).
You are welcome to write a personal narrative or for those who are feeling a little more creative, you can write a speech, short story or poem. Let your ideas and writing flow. Please don’t let word or page count constrict your flow.
Strategies to employ in your writing (must be present):
Central idea (something like a thesis statement)
Tone
Strategic word choice
Strong Introduction/Conclusion
Strong transitions
Unity
Use of Rhetorical Strategies (such as similes, metaphors, anadiplosis, alliteration, rhetorical questions, personification, etc.)
Writing evokes a feeling
You have a lot of creative freedom with this assignment. This is your opportunity to demonstrate everything you have learned about the power of writing and communicating. Grades will be based on your effective use of writing strategies around a central idea (thesis).
