Nursing evolves from what schools teach and what has been in practice over the years. The theory-practice gap is the difference between class learning and the demonstrate learning acquired from experience in the nursing process. The theory-practice gap allows practical learning in nursing. Practical experimentation allows the learners to put themselves in the actual field. Laboratory practices help nurses make sound decisions that are not taught in school but according to their situation. Mainly, the practice gap develops by the introduction of new and untried theories (Jarvis, 2019).

Nursing theory is the creative structuring of ideas to help develop a purposeful way of handling certain elements. Theories are composed of definitions and models and focus on assumptions that are not tried and verified. Nursing theories are in three categories grand theory, middle-range theory, and practitioners theory. The following concepts group the theories;

The environment
Health

Swanson’s theory of caring
Swanson’s theory of caring emphasizes the amount of care offered to the patient and provides the foundation for better healing and care. Swanson’s view is from three contexts: women who had miscarriages, neonatal intensive caregivers, and socially at-risk mothers. Swanson’s theory gives five caring processes; knowing, being with, doing for, enabling, and maintaining belief for the patient. Swanson’s theory arrived at the following in these concepts (Shoghi et al., 2019).
The person
The theory illustrates that the nurses showing that they care for the patients is equally important as clinical care. The theory explains how nurses showing affection and love to the patient calm and boost the patient. When the mother is cared for, she is comfortable, which makes her adore parenthood. The person is the most important of the concepts in nursing as without the rest are invaluable.
Health
The meta paradigm of health entails the general wellness of the patient and their accessibility to health care. The health of the patient is very crucial to the nurses. The nurse must understand the body reactions in the patient and, in the aftermath of birth, the accessibility of good health care for the patient (Jarvis, 2019).
Environment
The environment is the surrounding around a patient, which includes even the nurse attending to the patient. The nurse should provide a conducive environment to the patient by being polite and showing care. The nurses are supposed to set the background to the patient’s liking to assist her in recovery. A conducive environment helps the patient into a fast recovery and helps her feel comfortable and forget about the change of the scenery from her usual home settings.
Nursing
Nursing refers to the care and support given to the patients during the birth process. The nurses are essential as they set the environment for the patient. Nurses can interact with the patient and attain knowledge of how to improve the health of the patient. Moreover, nurses can guide their patients’ actions and direct them accordingly for a fast recovery (Jarvis, 2019).

Your posting was in a unique approach. You took the perspective of the theory-practice gap. You stated the gap “is the difference between class learning and the demonstrate learning acquired from experience in the nursing process.” By the class, I am believing that you are addressing nursing theory, not just tasks. There are different types of gaps.
I believe that the clinical practice gap refers to a problem that exists in the practice area that is concerning knowledge (knowing). skill (knowing how to do something). or practice (doing or execution). This can provide an opportunity for improvement that the DNP scholar can address in the clinical area.
To address the theory-practice gap as it relates to the knowledge learned from research it is best to use evidence-based research. The DNP will identify a translational model to best apply in the clinical area the findings from research to bridge between theory and practice. This will address what is known from the best available research evidence and what is practiced in reality.
You presented the research article, from the perspective of the theoretical application. The qualitative article used Swanson’s Theory as a guide to explain the knowledge that was uncovered in the conducting of the research. This does not explain the theory though, just the application. Do you see the difference?
